Second Year of Plantation

Suryapet municipality has continued its plantation in the second year continuously. It has started with the medicinal plantation in Indira Park, which is under renovation. The 62nd vanamahotsavam was also celebrated in style.26, 058 plants are planted in a single day. On the same day the commissioner of the Suryapet Municipality was given the award of vananestam. On his behalf sanitary inspector received the same. The details are as follows:

Medicinal Plantation in Indira Park: -

Addasaram and shatavari plants are provided by sri.Suresh Jakotia, an ayurvedic doctor hailing from kodad. The rest of the plants are taken from the compost yard of suryapet municipality. The following saplings are planted.
Addasaram (400 plants), lemon gross (100 plants), Alovera, Shatavari, Alastonia, Ranapala (50 plants), Pipal, Neem,Tulasi,almond,oma(vamu) Nalleru (quadrus rectangulus), Usiri (5 plants), mehandi (100 plants),vavili,etc.
The aims of the herbal garden are as follows:
• To make the medicinal plants available to people, there by low cost and alternative health measures are in place.
• To increase the greenery, as medicinal plants increases the ownership.
• To use the indigenous plants in the parks replacing the foreign and vicious plants.
• To establish the nurseries involving the poor women and generating employment for them.
• Park should create the heeling effect in addition to aesthetic value.
• To create model for emulation in all the Urban Local Bodies.


Specialties:
• The crotans are thoroughly removed and replaced with addasaram.
• It would be filled with all the herbal plants in future also.
• The propagation of the most of the plants are very easy, there by cause increment in greenery.
• Neem and papal are planted jointly as both together will give healing air, with maximum quantity of oxygen.

In addition to this, the old plants were also protected or relocated.Those are as follows:
Thippa tega, ratnapur plant, shankapushpi,parijatham, sampenga, avise.

At later stages,new plants are brought from the Nalgonda territorial nursery and social forestry and planted are as follows:
Territorial-Jeedi,teni, arjuna.
Social forestry- red sanders, maredu,bamboo.
The plants that are brought from the K.v.k.gaddipalli are as follows:
Kolias, Machipatri, vasa, dumparastram,turmeric,etc.

On 24th october,2011, one block is filled with rose and all the following flowering plants in other block, which also have medicinal values are as follows:
Hybiscus(2 varieties),satyanarayana plant(2 varieties),chemanthi(3 varieties),night queen, malle,krisna tulasi, devakanchanam, small amla. One small block of guntagaragara is also planted on the same day.After the above plantation, the rain has visited the suryapet as usual, which increased the sustainability opportunities of plants.

Again sri.Suresh Jakotia has come to rescue and sent more than 15 varieties of seeds to take up plantation.They are as follows:
chitrakamulam,nilaxani,single seed garlic(kashmir variety), madhavilatha, dhathura,ashwagandha, ramaphalam,guriginja,vruddhadharu, bixia(hanuman sindhuri),Jammi.

The nutritional plants such as cuury leaves,drumstick, almond, jamun, guva are also planted.

62 Vanamahostavam Program on 9th July, 2011, Suryapet Municipality has planted 26,058 saplings in 34 wards and vasavi club (100 plants), Snehanilayam (200 plants), RKLK college (50 plants), Gurukula Patashala (Girls) (55 plants), Layola College (1000 plants), Bhavitha College (33 Plants), Office Staff (1000 Plants), Kaburstan (60 plants), Sai Brundavaram Anatha Asramam (100 plants),SV college land and ladies hostel,hospital.

In this program Sri G. manohar (Revenue Divisional Officer), Sri. Jagannatha Rao (T. Sridar), Sri. Y. Srinivas, Forest Range Officer, Sri Satya Narayana, M.E.O, Prinivipal S.V. Degree & P.G College & Staff and head Master Z.P. School were also participated along with Sri.Bonagiri Srinivas,Municipal Commissioner and his staff.

In this program A.P.U.F.I.D.C, Hyderabad donated 2000 plants (Badam, Alstonia, Allaneredu, Vepa, beltoborm, kanuga). Municipality Brought papaya, guava Plants (3000 plants) from kadapatri, Ambativagee, 3000 teak plants from Munya Naik thanda, 3000 plants (teku 2000, Usiri 500, Munaga 400, Jamail-100) from Vallabapuram. 100 Kanuga plants from B. Madharam, (13,958 plants) from Gandhi Nagar Nursery (Teku-7,870, Usiri-2,015, Munaga-2,110) from forest nurseries.
The help of the district collector sri.N.Mukteshwar Rao, smt.Neethu Prasad,J.C, Sri.Purushottam, D.F.O,Shekher Reddy, Y.Srinivas,F.R.O, Venkateshwarlu,F.R.O and forest staff is amazing. The Hon’ble M.L.A. Sri.Dhamodhar Reddy has given his valuable suggestions for sustainability of plantation.

Specialties of programme:

• The entire staff of sanitation and water supply, except a few, has participated for two days.
• The Non-Governmental Organizations, NCC, NSS from SV College and Kamakshi engineering College has participated. Ex-Councilors have also participated.
• This time people have dug the pits in the most of the instances. It made the things easier.
• Sustainability and immediate yielding of drumstick, banana, teak, papaya and Gorintaku has motivated many poor people.
• Many people requested for more number of usufruct saplings. It shows the increased interest among people.
• Household plants are given priority due to its high sustainability.
• The plantation around the suryapet is also taken up.
• Planting has become a habit for both the people and staff of suryapet municipality. They achieved the goal despite many troubles such as absence of students, two days bundh for Telangana, and delay in transportation of plants.
• It has clearly revealed the team work of Suryapet Municipality and district administration.
